[EnMasse] TERA merging down servers on September 18th.

Fall is a season of changes, and the world of TERA is going to be busy for the next few months. First on the list of change is our server status. We’ve got several metrics to measure server activity—and many of ours are below the mark. We’ve also been listening to the issues our players have been having in the game: lack of resources, lack of groups, extended wait times for dungeons, and so on. We feel that the best way to address these problems is to increase the number of simultaneous players on our servers. To that end, we will be merging servers on September 18, 2012.

Where some might look on this as a negative, I feel differently. By combining our servers, we facilitate a more unified community and give players a more full, alive world where finding groups, locating rare items (for lower prices!), and getting into dungeons quickly are the norm. Most importantly, combined servers will allow us to run more regular, player-focused events where we get to interact with our players. You can find a link to our detailed FAQ regarding this process at the bottom of this letter. It will be updated further as we get more information.

SOURCE

there will be one PVE server, one PVP server and one RP server.

Dang it tanked..

Hope GW2 doesn't have that problem! (Haha)

Server merge is still up in the air, and preliminary post is more of a "judge the reaction" post than anything. There is an overwhelming cry for this not to happen. Atleast so far as to merge all servers into one respectively. As Dragonfall server is the highest population server for pve and there is already significant lag during nexus events, this merge will have some pretty detrimental and un anticipated effects. I doubt EME and Bluehole will consolodate server to address the complaints of the crybabies to destroy what sense of community there is on the other servers. It would be in their best interest to balance the population migration between 2 or three servers for pve rather than have a super server.

A lot of potential in the game, unfortunately the Korean stigma just didn't help it. Should a way to stamp Gw 2 sticker on it blizzard.

Its too bad because it is the most fun combat system of any MMO I've played. The korean stigma as Lavitz said kept teras initial sales down more than it should have I think. However that isn't the reason they are losing the subs they have.

There are two big reasons for that, one is lack of end game. They only just came out with one BG and one raid, and that still isnt enough to keep people interesting I think.

The other big reason is the RNG loot system. To get the best gear you have to use a system of improving gear called enchanting, I wont go into details but you have a very small chance to upgrade your item and each chance is relatively expensive. This is a game whose combat is based on skill and the gearing system based fully on RNG.

I bought it for launch but just couldn't get myself to like the idea of paying a sub for the life of the game whether it be 1, 2, or 10 years. I find it hard to want to pay so much for a game anymore. Tera looked nice and I liked the combat but with GW2 on the way it was hard to want to really play Tera that much anymore when you have to pay per month to play it. I guess there is a way to buy scrolls or something in the game to get free months of play so maybe I will go back for a month and farm gold so I can play for free for many more months but not sure. As for people looking to play Tera it is worth your time to try it if you have not seen that sort of combat before. It definitely is a positive about the game.

I played this game for about two solid months nearly everyday. End game is a major grind fest with atrocious RNG ("random number generation" for those unaware) when it comes to enchanting weapons. A player can go from having say, 10K gold (which is a respectable amount assuming you saved from level 1) to having nothing and I mean nothing due to very expensive NPC sold materials and a very low % of success when enchanting. You'd have better odds at hitting the 1 million dollar jackpot at the Indian casino than you would enchanting your weapons and armor in TERA. This game would honestly do quite well on a console due to its control scheme, although it would have to be free to play.

The grind would be so bad if the game had variety, but it just doesn't have that. End game just ended up being monotonous dungeon runs, and pvp wasnt flushed out. I wish they had open world pvp go towards a system where you could eventually get gear and made BAMS worth while to do. They game still can be really good if they would just re-tweak some things and relaunch it. Make it free to play. But inorder for it be free to play so pay $45 for those who dont own the game and people who game just make it go f2p and release a video comparing the game GW 2, all that being done this game could come back to life.

Tera's enchanting system is no where near as bad as a lot of other Korean MMO's. At least your item doesn't break or go down in level when you fail.
