GTX 690 Dilemma - Page 2

Thread Starter
Thanks all for the quick replies! I'm not home to run any tests. Probably won't be able to until Friday. Just from playing Skyrim with some mods it was crazy slow. I'm looking in the 50-60 fps range, with high'ish settings. I know that this resolution will kill all but the highest end system at maximum settings. I could probably sell my mobo and go for something that has 4 pci-e slots. I know that this is a vague statement, but I want to get the best out of this resolution as possible and if I need to switch mobo for a quad sli, I'm willing to do it.

My original idea for this build did not include a multi-monitor setup, in retrospect I should have planned for it and went a different route with cards.

For that res you need 3-4 7970's.

I'm also wondering if I might have jumped the gun with getting monitors with that res. Maybe I should just switch to a 5760x1080 setup instead with 3 gtx 680's. I know that 3 of them will run anything I throw at them at that res with no problem.

just sell of those 690 you have and get the sapphire 7970 toxic edition which comes with 6gb of vram. its targeted specifically at multi monitor gamers. get one of those and add another if you feel you need more .

6GB is stupid. Also one will fall flat on its face. Down the res or get 3-4 normal 7970's.

I decided to go with 3x gtx 680 4gb, and switch to 5680x1080, that way I can be sure to get the performance I'm looking for.
