Alright, so here's the deal. I've been lurking on this forum for some time now, and have found lots of useful information. Unfortunately, I can't find any advice for my specific situation, so it's time for my first real post. biggrin.gif

Currently, I have a triple monitor setup, with 1 EVGA GTX570 and a 9800GT (pretty much only for the extra dvi port). My 9800 finally died, after at least 5 years of faithful service, and I need another video card in order to use my 3rd monitor. I'm heavily considering buying a 2nd 570, since they're only $250 on Amazon at the moment.

I also considered purchasing a 670 and selling my 570, as that would be about the same cost in the end. How much difference would another 768mb of vram make in my situation? I usually game on just 1 monitor, but I'd also like info about triple monitor gaming requirements. From what I've read, sli 570's are more powerful than a single 670, but is the trade off worth it?

768 MB is a significant increase in VRAM.
I came from a GTX 470 which had 1280MB to a GTX 670 and I can finally play Skyrim without the ugly stuttering caused by running out of VRAM using the GTX 470.
GTX 570 SLI is a more powerful rig although not by much. GTX 670 is slightly slower but it will be a more stable rig since you don't have to wait for new SLI profiles, new driver fixes and to avoid microstuttering, it will also draw significantly less power & won't heat the room as much as a SLI 570 rig, you might also benefit from TXAA in future games (a little bit of a marketing gimmick but it is a nice feature to have).
Keep in mind too that 30 fps for example from a single card is not the same as SLI cards. it feels much smoother.

In this thread you can find windfire compared his rig 570 SLI to a single GTX 670, both are overclocked.
