X58 Qpi volts whats safe?

Thread Starter
I have the Samsung Golden ram Now starting to overclock them. I had to boost qpi/vtt volts A lot to get stable Im at 1.5 volts (linx cpu stress) Im @ 954mhz . I just seems that the qpi i HIGH. Just want to know what other long time users of the x58 chip sets been running theirs at and safely. note pc under water.
qpi was stock. 1.35? with old corsair ram 1gbX6 @ 1600mhz.

1.5 might be within safe limits, i personally would tune the uncore ratio and ram timings something is not right you should not need that much vtt. What is your overclock set at?

1.5v is fine for benching, but 1.45v max for 24/7 is recommended. Over 1.45v will degrade the IMC.

4ghz ,guys its not the CPU its the ram that you need to mess with qpi/vtt. Pc wont post @ 1.4volts or 1.475 Ram @ 2000mhz with 8 Gb I am under water too

what is your uncore set at maybe lower it, it will help cut down on the qpi/vtt volts.

You will need qpi/vtt high to get your ram to 200Mhz, i had a set of Kingston 2000Mhz and i couldnt live with the qpi/vtt they needed to run it at that speed so i sold them and bought 16GB 1600Mhz.
Theres not really much gain in running it at 2000Mhz usually, apart from wondering if your going to ruin your CPU' mem controller biggrin.gif

Let's be clear here,

1.5v VTT is fine for benching, but 1.45v max VTT for 24/7 is recommended. Over 1.45v VTT will degrade the IMC.

The reason you might need high VTT voltage is because your chip doesn't like the Samsung ram too much. Certain computer components work better together than others.

Just like Sandy Bridge doesn't like Hyper ram too much, but X58 does.
