GC and TRIM

Thread Starter
So I've been reading and is still not clear to me when GC and TRIM starts working, is it when I'm afk i.e when I walk away from the computer still
on my windows desktop (no programs running) or do I have to put the computer in sleep mode or log off?

garbage collection is the one responsible on cleaning your drive, trim is just a command for the garbage collection and just basically tells the garbage collection to EXECUTE NOW

TRIM will issue a command to GC as soon as you delete a file permanently (shift + delete), or you empty the recycle bin.

without trim, garbage collection doesn't know when to start cleaning, so it will just start cleaning when the PC is idling and the user is logged off

So I have to log off? good to know, usually my computer is on 24/7 and I never log off when i'm sleeping just turn off the monitor.

edit: I see now, so if TRIM is enabled and supported I don't really have to log off for GC to work, the idle part is just when TRIM is not supported, thanks for the info.
