Cheapest Posiible Config for 16hrs/day operation

I am seeking some advice for building my second system which will run for at least 16-18 hours a day.
Intel, AMD does not matter. Neither does CPU Socket nor DDR2, DDR3.

Only things that matter :-

> Cheapest Possible
> Low Power Consumption
> Stable enough to run that long every day.

Any advice from you guys would be much appreciated

What sort of tasks? Anything is stable enough to run that long.

Purpose is a home PFSense router, nothing else.

The thing is, my previous build died on me recently after only 5 weeks. It was Pentium 4 LGA 478. (It wasn't purchased used)

I would look into the embedded market.

My parents are using an AMD e-350 that has been running for probably almost a year straight, but it is 18watts and it has a useless IGP for your use. Yet, the CPU is much faster than any Intel Atom.

my sig rig runs about 16 hours a day without problems for over a year now so it doesnt matter what kind of rig if you buy new parts and use a UPS/AVR.

for your purpose, i recommend a low power intel atom and one of those micro itx boards. Overall power consumption with hdd will be less than 30 watts.
if you need something faster, a sempron 145 is the next choice.
