Your results were only 4c overclocked, they got 8c under overclocked load with their best tim, twice as good as yours. 8c in my opinion is a quite a nice amount.

If it did not Void Warranty and if you could sell it. If CPU is 80C or 88C nothing will happen. Even if it dies you got warranty.

The cpu itself it vurnerable. If I am correct AMD GPUs are also without heatsink. And you can put a cooler on that. But you need to be carefull. Tighten it too hard and you can hurt it.

Tighten it normally but try to keep it as even as you possibly can, dies can take a lot of pressure if it's evenly but if it's not even you may crack it.

This is tempting to try. Was that a dry paper towel you used? If so, that probably created micro scratches on the die's surface. Isopropyl alchol & a high-quality microfiber towel next time. thumb.gif

Use one stick of crappy cheap RAM, you don't need a video card, and you shouldn't be using a budget PSU to begin with(the most important part of your setup).

The guy in that video is not a common occurrence, from 98C to 60C the actual die contact with the IHS must have been just bad luck! It makes me wonder if Ivy Bridge-E will be any different, maybe a little lower temps since they will be using the soldered method instead of the thermal paste.

It would be great if everyone could include their OC and batch numbers listed here, I'm not up and running yet.

Batch number #3224A925

You're assuming Fahrenheit is linear like Celcius is. You're wrong. 8C may equal 46.4F, but the way you're implying is considering 0C=0F - when in fact, 0C=32F.

PS
It won't work on the 2500k because the IHS is soldered on and its pretty much guaranteed you'll end up ruining the CPU.
