Ok got you now, the Intel CPU's are considerably more expensive, I searched high and low for good prices but they were on average $150 - $200 more.

On the Graphics card it is between $100 - $150 more expensive and I plan to upgrade that in the near future so no big loss.

Case wise I did a little reasearch and found that it had a good review (and the price was right).

The list above is not exhaustive, there are a couple of things left off that are not essential.

Thanks for the feedback it is appreciated.

I know the prices are different, I live in New Zealand and our currency is worth less so things are more expensive, and you could still build a rig with a 3570K, HD 7870, a switch 810 with a included NZXT 660W 80+ gold for about $2000.00,

But like said on the last page, we've all had our first build. I paid way too much for my PC when I first got it.

Everywhere I looked for a case with a PSU they had none in my area, will keep that in mind if I build again.

The main thing I had in mind and with a spur of the moment purchase was the budget and comparing prices. If you know of a great place in Aus to get these please let me know. Most of the places I looked at were more expensive than where I ended up buying all the parts www.pccasegear.com.au was were I got it all from.

I have had intel based laptps and have not had great success with them and that was one of the reasons I stayed away from the more expensive intel.

Thanks for the feedback and appreciate the help and info.

One of the big rules in the PC world, don't compare laptops to a Desktop PC. thumb.gif

And PC Case Gear is a awesome store by the looks of it. I just made an imaginary build with a 3570K and a 7950, all for under 1600 biggrin.gif

Its a good pc mate, as you said this is your first build so you are going to make the odd mistake, like you could have got the 8120 over the 8150 they perform the same but the 8150 is more likely to go over 5ghz , that would have saved you enough to buy a better graphics card immediately. Try clock your processor up to 4,4ghz at stock voltage, it should be fine and then you will be very happy.

What others are saying, you could have gotten a much better computer for about the same price. In general, your specs are really unbalanced.

RAM: Any specific reason you need 32GB? Unless you have a very specific reason for that much RAM, 8GB is more than enough for general gaming.
PSU: Way too much juice, your specs won't even touch it. You could have gotten away with a 500-400W with lots of headroom.

The weakpoint is definitely the vid card. In a $2000 build, I'd expect a 7950 at a minimum.

I appreciate all the feedback, with that feedback I have plans to upgrade the video card. One of the reasons I went with a larger power supply was to enable a lower cost upgrade in the future. In relation to the RAM I had no idea thought it would be better LOL.

I appreciate the help, what would be a good video card for the system with a budget of $500 ??

A good GPU would be maybe a HD 7950, or perhaps a GTX 670, and then overclocking the heck outta them thumb.gif
