Well actually the card came in at just a bit more than the 6870 card, uh tough one.

2 GB 6870 or 1GB 7850? Major differences? Haven`t been able to locate a comparison of performance on these cards, anyone know a place where I could find one?

There is only one 7850 model in my budget, which is: VTX3D AMD Radeon HD 7850 X-Edition. Any good?

However I found the 6870 card with 2GB for only a bit extra on amazon. Is there a significant difference in performance on this? How would CF be on the 2GB cards vs 1GB cards? The only 2GB model they have is the one from XFX.... (http://www.amazon.co.uk

If you are spending anywhere close to 150 pounds I would advise you spend the extra 20 bucks to get a HD 7850 2 GB. Here is the kind of performance diff you can expect

BF3 1920 X 1200 4x AA

HD 6870 - 31.4
HD 7850 (1 Ghz) - 45.4
HD 7850 (1.2 Ghz) - 50.2
GTX 580 - 51.7

In the latest DX11 games like BF3, Crysis 2, Batman AC, Max Payne 3 a HD 7850 is much faster than HD 6870. HD 7850 (1 Ghz) matches GTX 570 and HD 7850 (1.2 Ghz) matches GTX 580 performance. Most HD 7850 cards hit 1 Ghz at stock voltage and with a slight voltage tweak 1.15 - 1.2 Ghz. think about it. its definitely worth the extra 20 bucks. thumb.gif

Thanks! Bob, quite the performance increase actually!

The card does come in at 50 euro extra though. Radeon 7850 2GB at €209.5 while the Radeon 6850 1GB comes in at €160.5 and the 2GB at €181.

BOB BOB... Consideration time! :O
