Air flow in my case latest incarnation

Thread Starter
Currently, the front, bottom, and rear exhaust fans controlled by my Lamptron FC5v2. Top fan by direct connection to mother board (thinking of using a splitter cable to link it to one of my other controlled fans, as it goes full speed all the time, maybe upsetting the front to rear flow.
I am in the process of making a hood to put on the top rear opening of my case to direct its passive flow away from the top intake.
The top fan, bottom fan, and the front bottom fans, all have a less directed out toward the edges of the fans type flow.
The top front, and rear ty-140 fans both have a stronger more focused flow).
Any thoughts?

Looks very nice. thumb.gif

Your top fan may be causing turbulence with cooler intake. Might try unplugging it and testing it boh ways to see what temps do.

I raise my case up so it has 50mm clearance. Gives bottom fans unrestricted airflow.

I'd move the top fan to the left on exhaust. That's a lot of positive pressure. Maybe too much

Could do that but just unplugging it will solve the problem and be quieter too.

OP, how are you controlling fan speed?
My setup is similar with all fans controlled by CPU fan socket. using Akasa and Gelid PWM splitters.wink.gif

I tried that before, and it just pulled all the heat from my gpu to the top of the case, making it 3 degrees hotter than it is now. The current setup the top fan brings cool air into the flow for the cpu, and maybe pushes the gpu heat that is directed into the case, out the large left side opening in the case, and the spaces where I removed expansion covers.

All case fans, except the top fan are controlled by the FC-5v2, the top and bottom fans don't have a really focused flow, the air comes out from the edges. In the
top fans case, the air does not cut directly across the front back flow, more out towards the sides of the case, the top of the cpu heatsink, and the top drive bay.
I just think I need to get it under control of the FC5, maybe connecting it with a splitter I bought, with the bottom fan control wire.

I really like using motherboard PWM control to control all my fans. Can't hear a thing (except my TX 650 PSU at Corsair lies and said it is "ultra quiet" ) when system is not working.. like now. When I start encoding and CPU runs 90-100% fans ramp up as heat increases. CPU idle temp is 35-38c and full load is 56-59c.. ambient 23c. If your fans are all PWM the PWM splitters are a breeze to hook-up. Master rpm control is CPU fan into splitter. Splitter plugs into motherboard PWM and PSU molex and. 4 more fans plug into splitter. If you need more fan leads just plug a second splitter into first. I'm sure there is a limit to the number of fans PWM signal will support but I've ran 10 on mine no problem.

Have a mate who has split his fans up with some on CPU PWM and some on GPU PWM so each heat source gets are from respective fans as it's heat increases.
