This. My Sony Vaio S13A under full load in BF3 has never exceeded 78C even on the hottest day here in California. This is with the stock TIM. And it's even overclocked to 900/1000 from 500/1000, so I have 650m clocks on my 640m LE. CPU is an i5-3210m.

Also keep in mind that the laptop is very thin. It's only 0.85" at its thickest, in a 13" form factor.

This is a desktop replacement though and is not strictly meant for gaming. At 2.6Ghz, the Core i7 3820QM matches a stock 2600k in highly parallel tasks like encoding and rendering, you'll get a 7h battery, all in a portable package that's less than 4 1/2lbs. This laptop is perfect for the Adobe Creative Suite crowd and those that just want a desktop replacement, but not loose the portability that haunts fat notebooks.

The GTX 650m can play BF3, Skyrim, Dirt Showdown, and Crysis 2 on ultra settings at 1600x900 res. The only game it has trouble with is Metro 2033 and even then, you're still playing at high settings at 30hz+.

It looks good, but that damn GPU and Win 8 makes it a tough call. I want to be able to play GW2 at 60FPS @ 1080p with max setting. I doubt that 650M can do that. I could just waste a key on it, I guess it would be better anyway. Would clear off all of the crapwear.

Well ASUS Zenbook U500 with GT 650M will play Guild Wars 2 very well @1080p ..but it will not max out this game to get 60 FPS I think..

It looks nice though I don't like the number pad on the side it leaves it with too little dead space on each side and the track pad off center.

I get to play with an early U500 sample these days, so if you have any particular questions about this laptop, maybe i can help.

I'll also have some more through videos in the next days, as i get to play with it.

So, if you have any particular questions, just shoot. I can't get too in depth with the behnchmarks though, as this is a pre-release unit and the results could be misleading. And i'll only have the laptop till Tuesday, so better ask fast tongue.gif

i7 ULV are not quad core , just high clocked (compared to i5) dual cores HT

This doesn't use a ULV i7, its standard voltage. Check out the IDF slides...Its a quad-core Core i7, 35-45w

if it doesn't have an aluminum unibody and if it use a TN screen it's not as nice, but I am sure it will have those

it also will have an inferior keyboard and trackpad, like all zenbooks have had, and probably worse battery life (unless running Windows 8)
