[Engadget] ASUS 15-inch Zenbook U500: Ivy Bridge, optional NVIDIA graphics and a full numpad - Page 18

At it's price, I prefer the Macbook Pro with Retina in specs and again in aesthetics. The Zenbooks have an ugly beige hue to them that reminds me of cheap champagne or sparkling water. The best looking thin and light notebook for me is the Samsung Series 9, though not as powerful as the Macbook Pro, it's both thinner and significantly lighter. Samsung recently showed their Series 9 with a 2560x1440p screen and I just hope this makes it to a real retail product.

yeah samsung has copied a lot of nice things from apple products, like centered trackpad and keyboard. i really wish they'd go with 16:10 screen too

Centred trackpad + KB was invented by Apple? No.

If they were, what is this I don't even.

I'll gladly pay the extra $100-$200 for the rMBP over the U500. Better support, better warranty, all around better laptop.

If I have any problems with any of my Apple products, I can walk into any Apple stores and get a replacement that day if it's within warranty, no questions asked. Can you say the same for Asus?

Apple is no where near perfect but their support is miles ahead of Asus. Can you prove otherwise?

OK, that's true.

In-store support, ASUS doesn't have any so it's definitely better.
However Email or Phone support varies.

cheapest MBP with 15 inch retina and 650m i can see is bout $2500 australian dollars, and that has a crappy 5400rpm hdd, dont think the asus would even crack 2k?

headscratch.gif

Are you talking about the Asus or MBP that has the 5400rpm HDD? The rMBP only comes with a 256 GB, 512 GB or 728 GB SSD, and one of the quickest ones on the market right now AFAIK.

EDIT: doh.gif I should have scrolled down first.
