I want a macbook but no $$ - Page 2

Dude, why do you want a Macbook? I don't understand why people love Mac OS X, it's nothing but pretty (in some people's opinion, just because it's shiny, I don't care for it). Granted it doesn't get viruses and bad stuff as often, but I've never gotten anything bad on my comp with 2 antivirus/spyware programs (1 of each) and avoiding sites that look nasty.

Macs are WAAAAY overpriced IMO. You can build a PC with better specs for about half the cost of a Mac PC. I haven't compared their laptops though, but I would say they are overpriced as well seeing as they are a minimum of about $1300, and up to $3,000.

That's my little rant, so I hope you can guess what I'm saying, which is:
Don't waste your money on something that you don't really need for anything. Macs are not nearly as easily upgradable as PCs, so you will probably just want to buy a completely new one in the future, and it gives you less of a hobby to play around with. Don't waste your parents' money, show some self-control.

Sheesh... kids these days.

And also, you can get jobs at 15, they are just kinda hard to come by. Chick-Fil-A hires at 15. I had some friends that worked there when they were 15.

I don't hate Apple at all, but I will admit that I DESPISE the people that rant about how Godly Macs are, and that Windows is the scum of the earth (while it very well may be).

Actually MacBooks are very comparable to similar priced laptops. I don't think there are any laptops that are very upgradable at all. We all know we can build PCs with better specs but you can't exactly take your PC on a plane with you...

For the job deal, just get a work permit. I know in Texas you could work at like 14 if you have a permit.
Not bad at all...

Yeah, I didn't know about the laptops, I've never really looked at laptop pricing, as I've never really been interested in getting one.

i have a macbook.. 2 ghz white one.. ive been a pc guy all my life and swore ide never switch to mac because i never liked it and my dads always had them in the house.. i decided that if i was going to get a laptop to get something different... so i bought this and to you who says its only shiny... what do you think vista is.. its the windows version of os X... its easy to use, easy to navigate, safe and secure, and great looking. Dashboard and expose or w.e. it is are a great way to navigate through programs.

and macs are just as easily upgradeable.. and it doesnt void any warranties.

Oh and when your spending money on as you say a overpriced computer. Your getting reliability and great customer support. I believe mac is one of the best in customer support and once you get a mac they will be good and working forever. my dad had a 10 year power pc mac and that thing never had one problem except that it was old. there tanks and are high quality which is what your paying for.

I never found OS X any easier to use/navigate through than Windows, and I'm not necessarily looking forward to Vista's shininess. I used OS X in graphic design for an entire year sophomore year, and we actually had a lot of problems with the computers, although the school may have ****ed them up, pardon my french.

Also, I don't get customer support when I build my own PC, which I would do before I buy one from Dell or another PC company. That's what this site is mostly for, building your own computer and making it as fast as you can

But I never had any amazing experiences with a Mac, and I wasn't impressed.

But we all have our opinions

And thank God you, or anyone else responding to me, were crazed Mac users that would start cussing me out and declaring that Microsoft is the Devil and Apple is God. Part of the reason I'm somewhat against Macs is the users, they don't shut up about them and they try to make you believe as they believe. Sheesh.

Thank you for not being that way *shakes fist*

I used a friend's Macbook Pro. It was pretty fast indeed, but I'm not overly impressed with OS X.

I don't hate it, I just prefer Windows because of games and I don't find it any more difficult to use than OSX.
