Mac Preview Showing Wrong Colours

Looking at a PDF in Windows 7 using Adobe Reader and the colours show up fine. On Mac the very same PDF is showing up much darker when viewed within Preview. When I open up the master .ai file the colours also show up fine within Illustrator. Any ideas? I think the Preview rendering engine may be off big time with the colour matching.. Even the .ai thumbnail is showing the correct colours... Is there any way to fix this within Preview?

I tried to replicate that on mine with a 600mb .ai document (Heavy mix of vector, photos and typography).
No difference.

Any colours in particular?

It may be an issue with color spaces. If the images in the PDF are (for example) in the AdobeRGB color space, the Mac may not be converting them to sRGB before displaying them, and instead using the raw color data.

Try installing this. And reading this.
