i5 2400 vs fx 8150

same price on newegg, but im not real familiar with the newer amd chips. Whats your guys' opinion

I would say that they are equal, the 2400 has the disadvantage of not being overclockable. Once you OC the 8150, it will be better but not by much. The 2500k, once overclocked will be better than the 8150. Though, I am not 100% sure about this.

At stock speed the i5 2400 will win in any competition except some video editing programs that are optimized to use multiple threads.

You can see here the i5 2400 wins majority of the benchmarks except for a few multi-threaded programs

The i5 2400 is locked and cant be overclocked so the FX 8150 may gain advantage if you overclock it

In almost all situations the i5 would win. In heavily threaded tasks, encoding and decoding, video editing, etc, the 8150 wins.

Gamer and every day user? i5. More specialized heavily threaded tasks? 8150. It is as simple as that.
