[CNN] iPhone is worth more than all of Microsoft - Page 16

Dont remember MS selling anything in 2011.

Also funny is the guy who said iPhone updates tend to be drastic. lol. iPhone updates are worse than intel's tick tock.

iPhone 1: no cut paste, no mms, no 3g (even though phones had all of that for a long while)
iPhone 3G: 3G. Copy paste and mms sometime with an update
iPhone 3GS: an s?
iPhone 4: First real change, new form factor, that failed. Probably the most broken screens in the history of any model of phone anywhere. Window panes for device screen.. psh
iPhone 4s: siri. Thats it.

Not to mention you guys are all suckered into having 2 or 3 lines on your cell aco****s to get the new upgrade to unlock some feature everyone else has had forever. And the naming convention of the iphone which had to have been done on purpose. How many iPhone 4 owners think they have 4G cell service. I'd put money on over half.

Meanwhile I'm here on my SGS3 with an extended battery that gives me 16 hours of screen time. And get this, it fits inside my otterbox defender. No additional thickness at all. +64gb SD card is nice too, I dont have to pay a 021983 dollars for built in options.

iPhone is just inferior, it has always been inferior. My winmo 5/6/6.5 was better.

well i have s3 too, tough i am in small country and tough i dont have operator bound mobile i have to wait for update to unlock allshare cast for the operator who is giving himself a lot of time ... well i will have maybe JB before i have allshare cast :/ and i already bought that dongle ...

but yes. apple is toast. too much income depends on single product. ms is much better. and the stoc costs 25usd vs 500+ for apple. much more liquid stock

best

Apple has a market capitlization that is high, however they don't have the actuall income to do so. Its like saying, we could have the money, but we don't really have it. Apple is significantly over valued, actually lots or most companys on the stock market are trading to high above their real market value. But sinces its a lemming market and mostly a game of poker, its how this goes.

Though i guess with the really large phones, the advantage of 16:9 would be that it is slimmer and easier to hold in one hand when taking a call. I wouldnt really know though since ive never really use them extensivelybm

For gaming and media, 16:9 is the better aspect ratio. There's a reason why its becoming more popular, just look at the Steam hardware survey. It may be better for multitasking as well.

Work = 16:10

I just said people who DON'T research the products, WILL buy an apple product, due to MARKETING and aesthetics. rolleyes.gif

Haha they would never make it thicker. It also has an aluminium back which would heat up a lot too.

When I say overheat I mean to the point of burning your hand. I've never known any iPod touch to do that, but the 4S gets "comfortably hot" under intense gaming -- very hot but it doesn't burn. An iPod touch with a metal back at half the thickness would burn. At 32nm though it should be fine.

iPhone's design is poor (glass on the back lol) regardless of how shiny and good-looking (though completely unergonomic) it is.
Apple chose aesthetics over durability.

On the intuitive point, you're on to something. IMO Android just wasn't as smooth, streamlined, and polished as iOS for a very long time. I somewhat missed iOS when I got my HTC. Now that ICS is out there for almost any recent Android device, no version of iOS has any advantage (unless you call an extra 500,000 fart apps an advantage). Apple might remain somewhat easier to use, but that comes at the cost of a lack of functionality for those of us who aren't complete idiots. To regain this functionality, one has to jailbreak... and at that point is just adding features that come with stock Android.
Unfortunately ICS isn't out there for all recent devices, and then there's devices two to three years old which won't be getting it either. An advantage of the App Store is no malware tongue.gif

Tons of phones have the iPhone beat. Larger, higher-pixel density, brighter, more vibrant screens, WAY faster processors (quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex A15 vs dual-core 800MHz Cortex A8), WAY more RAM (2GB vs 512MB), faster graphics (though I will admit Apple did have the lead on this for a while), removable batteries, SD card slots, etc... the list goes on and on.

Where does the iPhone win? Battery life. As far as I'm concerned, camera quality is debatable. Oh, and then there's how iOS is idiot-proof -- yeah you're not winning a single argument on this forum with that.
It's a dual-core 800MHz Cortex A9 and yes the iPhone 4S had the fastest GPU until the SGS3, however performance at native resolution is about the same.

The winning argument for iOS being idiot-proof is that the majority of smartphone users are just your average joe with little to no understanding of technology.

No idea what you're talking about paying for built in options or upgrades?

The iPhone and iPhone 3G are basically identical except for 3G. The 3GS had a 600MHz processor and 256MB RAM compared to 400MHz and 128MB for the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 4 had a 800MHz processor and 512MB RAM, and the 4S had a dual-core 800MHz processor, 512MB LPDDR2 RAM, dual-core SGX543 graphics, etc.

Surveys do not determine causality - a much more logical reason for the proliferation of 16:9 displays would be the 16:9 HDTV standards: 720p and 1080i.
I don't recall seeing many TVs built for displaying 4:3 picture that had a ratio of anything but 4:3. From a marketing standpoint, why would one build such a thing?

FYI, many movies are wider than 16:9, unless they've been reformatted.

"...what's clear is that the iPhone is the most business-crucial product Apple has ever released." - So basically make an iPhone killer and boom, game over lol.

As I see it, only a matter of time - sooner or later Dr Dre (or 50 Cent or Jay Z) will release his own phone and sweep the teenage and ignorant markets, thus turning the iPhone in to the Blackberry of this decade. That's my prediction - take it home witch ya! thumb.gif

There are enough Apple sheep in the world to keep them afloat no matter what kind of crap they churn out. That's why they didn't die in the mid-1990s.

That an the 150 million MS had to give them to prevent a monopoly. (Yes I know it wasn't a give it was buying shares, same thing.)
