Well, my beautiful beast just took its last breath. This thing has been nothing but trouble since day one. It has performed flawlessly performance wise, but little things here and there just started to pile up so I figure I would just see what I could get for it "as is" and get a netbook, tablet or a cheap smartphone. The power jack is busted, it's been fixed by a friend before, broke again, fixed, and now broke again and I do believe it would require a new motherboard, so it's not really worth the trouble, but maybe someone could fix it or part it out. It has an i7 2630QM, 500gb hard drive, 6 gb of 1333mhz ram, Nvidia GTX 460m(which is removable, as well as the cpu, a 1920 X 1080 screen, backlit keyboard, bluetooth, wifi b/g/n. Does anyone know what I could get for it as a whole and as parted out, and whether or not I should try my luck here or take it to ebay. Like I said, it has to be sold "as is". I don't want to deceive anyone into thinking it's going to be a cheap, simple fix. Thanks.
I probably should have mentioned, it still powers on with the battery. But obviously I can't charge it.
Update: Okay, so I took it apart and desoldered the existing jack, and soldered an external jack that I got from Parts Express. It powers on, but eventually the motherboard will need to be replaced. I spent all last night playing Fallout 3 for the umpteenth time and it works flawlessly again. I didn't mention, which I should have that the power button and the buttons on the top left that control power modes and screen brightness don't work as the clips on the motherboard the hold the ribbons broke off completely. In order to turn it on, I have to pull up the right side of the keyboard and touch the terminals for the power to turn it on. This computer is always plugged in, but lives in sleep mode. As I said, I need an appraisal "as is" or parted out, thanks.
