Edit: forgot to add: GET OUT THERE AND HANDLE ONE...lol (or as many of the options you have, as you can)

It'll seal the deal.
I would, know any camera shops that don't sell only P&S in Leeds, Yorkshire, UK? Most just serll £500 P&Ss which are about as overpriced as Apple.

New AF system and applications.
If you have an android phone, you can use it as a remote for the 5R.
Which is a good thing since the 5N is only ir in the front only.

If you dont need the applications, then the 5N is still good.
Add a pancake lens and is really pocketable.
Uhm... I'd never need a remote... and anyways don't have Android. Stuck with the iCrap 4. frown.gif

EVERYONE's saying NEX, I just need to handle one!

NEXs are gross, if you think they fit your definition of "pocketable" by looking at them, you may be surprised when you get to handle one.

it isnt that bad if you put a pancake on there, but the only pancake is the mediocre 16/2.8.......

well, i cant say anything about its feel yet, but the NEX5 (maybe a newer one if there is such thing) looks like what you want. i cant say much about its feel, but its like a bit "pimped" point and shoot. its around the same thickness, with out the addition of the grip. but basically, i will post lots of pics yesterday all shot with a NEX5, cant be sure about the lens atm but it is the one which comes from the box.

Personally, I disagree with this view; there are a lot of stores around that stock a huge variety of different cameras now. They most likely won't be the cheapest, but PC World/Curry's have a fair few SLR's in store now, as well as a lot of compact system cameras as well. Jessops is also a genuinely great place to check out as well, and their prices have come down quite substantially in recent years to compete with online retailers, too. Some of the bigger Argos stores also display a decent amount of cameras in store, as do some of the larger supermarket stores, Tesco in particular.

Like I said, these high-street stores are unlikely to be the cheapest option, but they at least give you the opportunity to physically hold them, experiment with and compare the controls, sizes, and weight of each camera. You're not obliged to buy something there and then, have a look around and then compare prices online when you get home.

Also, I noticed you're open to buying second hand, which is great. MPBPhotographic have a healthy stock of used DSLR's, lenses and compact system cameras, so I'd advise checking them out.

It's a wise idea, you'll probably save a fair bit over there. When/where are you going? It still might be a good idea to try some out over here first so you know what you're looking for when over there, it'll save you some time. I waited until I went to New York to get my D7000, but it had only just been released and everywhere in New York City had sold out the week I was there, so I was a little gutted.
