CM Storm Trigger vs Filco Majestoucuh-2

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, I am looking to buy my first mechanical keyboard and I am not sure if I should buy the Filco Majestouch-2 NKR Tactile or the CM Storm Trigger (black switchs right ? )
I know that the Filco is indubitably better, but is it worth the 50€ more than the CM Storm Trigger?

I am going to use it for gaming/writing (half and half) and I need a silent one so I'd buy the brown switches filco (Tactile Action)
The only things I am looking for is a good keyboard which should be silent and be a full keyboard (I use the numpad very much)

What do you guys think? Is it worth to spend 50€ on the Filco Majestouch-2 NKR?
What I am going to miss if I buy the Trigger?

I don't want to "try" or "start", I just want a good keyboard that'll not need to change.

Thanks you very much for the answers.

If you want a silent experience then mechanical keybaords will be a big nono unless you can type perfectly with no bottoming out of the keys.

Now for build quality i can attest to the quality of the Filco as i own a ninja 2 myself and its is as solid as a brick. I could literally hit my house wall (its a new house so plasterboard walls.) and the wall would break before it would.

I have personally have never used a Trigger so i cannot attest to the build quality, however blacks are not a typing switch at all they are too heavy for extended typing sessions and have no tactile feedback so you will 99% of the time bottom the key out even if you can type perfectly.

Now all that being said switch type is personal preference so if you can try them anywhere i suggest you do as they are all slightly different but can make a huge difference to your productivity.

The Filco comes jam recommended and i guarantee if you buy one you will love it forever.

My Majestouch-2 arrived two days ago and I can absolutely recommend it.

The build quality of it is just insane, it is so well built that many people say it could be a deadly weapon. tongue.gif

I have the tenkeyless ninja version with browns, it looks very sleek and the keys feel awesome.

For silent I just meant silent compared to other switches (blue for example).
I am absolutely sure that the brown switches are perfect for me (both gaming+writing and they are pretty silent compared to others)

Anyone know if it is possible to get an Otaku-style Majestouch-2 without having to pay the blank keyset?

Thanks again!

No otaku style but you can get the ninja which is close but not quite. If you want full otaku I'd recommend you buy some blank PBT keycaps as the feel and look of them re awesome.

Which I could test out the build quality of my Trigger but I have no clue what I need to do without having another Mechkeyboard and what test actually determine build quality.

Does it feel heavy?
Does the plastic feel cheap?
Hold down three corners of the board and try to pull the fourth off the table, can you lift the corner up much and does te plastic creak?

Stuff like this can indicate the quality of the construction.

Heavy? Hell yea, this is the heaviest board I've ever had, but that doesn't hold true for every mech board?
Plastic Feel? Not really, alot of it is covered in this light rubberized coating. No gloss at all.
Plastic creak? Not a single one.

I own the Trigger with black switches and if you want to type a lot keep in mind the EU version has a large enter key and the macro keys might not be for you, they are to the left of the control key so you accidentally press the macro 5 key instead of the control key. You could program the macro 5 key to be the same as the control key but i don't think you should have to.
The quality of the board is great but i can't compare to Filco.
I think if you type a lot you wil be better off with the Filco, i don't think the switches are too heavy but this i just not a typist board. I bottom out almost every key and therefore make a lot of noise typing on it.
If price is an issue i am sure you can find other boards with brown switches. But from what i read everywhere almost nothing matches the quality of the Filco's.

This doesn't mean i don't like my Trigger, i like it a lot as my first mechanical keyboard and would recommend it as a great gaming board, i am just not sure about long typing sessions as i don't type that much.
