The Gaming Computer I Always Wanted - Page 8

A single 7950/70 or 670/80 is enough to run every single game out there. It's better to buy one now, and then wait for the price to fall if you need one more card.

When it comes to value, 7950 is the winner. Faster than a 670 if you overclock it.

At 1080, yes, but this is 1440.

Ya, watching 1080p youtube... You don't game in 1080 on a 1440, both because of upscaling and stretching.

OP -- If you're only going to be upgrading once in a while -- Grab the 2x 670's and not a single one like people suggested especially at that resolution.

The 2nd is way more future proofing and you'll enjoy a seemless gaming experience for a while to come vs's the single card where at 1440p even Skyrim hurts it after mods. Heck, it even hurts me with 2x 680's on 1080P with a bunch of mods.

And whoever, keeps offering Pre-built needs to quit suggesting pre-builts. If your ultimate goal was to save money for the OP -- You'd do a build it yourself rig........ you can build any rig from ibuypower or cyberpowerpc for less than what it costs them, so why suggest it and do a double standard to yourself?

Case: Corsair 600t SE
CPU: i7 3770k
MOBO: Gigabyte G Sniper 3
GPU: GTX 680 Twin Frozr 4 4GB
RAM: 8GB Corsair Dominator GT
SSD: Samsung 830 128GB
HDD: WD Caviar Black 2TB
PSU: Corsair AX850

Total $1,924.92 w/ Free Borderlands 2

IF you build a Dream PC you want the best. Not some cheapo ASrock/rosewill/gskill crap. I didn't include a Optical drive because I rarely ever use mine and don't see much use for one unless you burn/rip CDs/blurays. Drivers, movies, netflix, games. Its all digital anything you need you can download. They sell Windows via download to make bootable USB OS Thumbdrives.

I play at 2560x1440 and would get by fine with 1 GTX 680 4GB/7970 3GB You do not need SLI.

I think it's better to settle this once and for all.

Option 1: Do you want the best you can get for $2000?
Option 2: Or do you want use $1000-1500 now and then $500-1000 for future upgrades?

G.Skill and Rosewill are crap? :O

ASRock is low/mid end. But how are G.Skill and Rosewill crap?

Downgrade your PSU to a Capstone 750 or X750. 850 is not needed.

I'd get a $1600 system and $400 into custom water cooling.

I've got an Asrock mobo. It was ridiculously cheap compared to other boards with similar futures. Does the same thing as more expensive boards. Pricey =/= best.

I find their PCB to be crap. Considering most of my boards are Gigabyte, and thus have super-strong PCB, the one and only ASRock I have ever bought personally scared the crap out of me when it bent as I was putting in the SATA connectors.

They're great for the price, and they've been recommended with most Z77 builds (the E4/E6), but I wouldn't own one for that reason alone.

Rosewill it depends. I've seen it go both ways.

G.Skill on the other hand, there is nothing crap about them. I remember when their 2x4GB 1600 9-9-9 kit was just $35 on newegg, everyone I know who was into computers got a kit.
