Do i need to use pwm control on mcp35x2?

Hi,
as the title says, do i have to use the pwm leads? i currently have it all up and running without them and the noise is not a problem as i cannot hear it over the fans, but are there any other benefits to having it pwm? will it break quick if it is always at 100%?

There is such a thing as too much flow when it comes to DDCs. Dropping the pump speeds could have a considerable impact on the PCB temperatures on the pumps.

I completely agree. 35X's tend to run hot, especially when in series. I ended up turning one one of my pumps off (I have two in a Koolance 401X2) because the pumps were running so hot I could barely touch them.

Not only that, but these pumps have impressive head pressure and will find a weak spot in your loop much more quickly. If your loop has a potential leak waiting to happen, running your pumps at 100% will surely exploit that potential. wink.gif

Can you set fan profile in BIOS? That is by far the best way to do it, IMO.

Also, regardless of how you run them, I HIGHLY recommend getting the heatsink for the pumps, and also an 80x15mm fan. It can drop pump PCB temps over 45C when used with the small fan.

You have an Asus motherboard so you can use Asus Fan Xpert (part of the AI suite) to control the pump speeds. You should have got a PWM splitter cable supplied with the pump.

Stick the pwm plug onto the cpu header, set it to manual control, set upper temp to 55, upper duty to 85, lower temp to 35, lower duty to 15. Done. As for the heat on the pump just get some directed air flow to it. It doesn't have to be a big deal, just get some flow over the bottom and I've no clue how you mounted it but never use a sandwich unless you want to fry it.
