Smallest recommended power supply for 7970?

Thread Starter
I plan on getting the 8350 and overclocking the crap out of it, and eventually upgrading to a 7970, and overclocking it. (all under liquid cooling)

I was thinking about a 750w, but that seems like it would be overkill

I used a power supply calculator, and it told me pretty much the same thing you guys did, until i remembered I have 13 fans, and a swiftech mcp655, and the 6970 I'll be using for a while, and it told me I'd need around 630w minimum... Does it really make that much of a difference?

I don't mind getting a 750w for peace of mind, but that seems a little extreme to me

a good 550 is more then enough

my suggestion is kingwin 550

it is capable of doing 650 but only clears gold at that wattage

How is this one? I'm on a bit of a budget, and it seems like pretty decent quality, considering its in the same price range as a couple of corsair units

edit: forgot to post the link doh.gif

edit 2: further research tells me it has HighPower internals, and is identical to the OCZ ZS 750, only Rosewill added the modular cables.

You don't need that much, something like this would be better (cheaper too): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182262

i wouldn't go below 400w, however i've seen quality 350w units pushing it fine
