I am not positive if this is the right place to put this thread, but it is the closest thing I could find that would fit my issue. If need be a moderator is welcome to move my thread.
My sister moved out recently......yay!.......and my mom and I are trying to consolidate all of our direct TV receivers to save money.
I took a receiver and tried to install it in my room but I ran into some issues pretty quickly. The only two outputs it has is composite and S-Video and my monitor only seems to have HDMI - DVI - Y, Pb, Pr with analog audio.
I tried putting the yellow cable of the composite video into the green socket of the Y, Pb, Pr. I was able to get video, but the video comes out in black and white.
My second issue is that my screen has a resolution of 1920x1200 and I am not sure the receiver will output in anything higher than 720p.
So if someone wants to tell me how I can solve my issue in the most direct way possible that would be great. However, I have my desktop sitting right underneath the receiver which makes me want to combine them some how. Is there a way that I can output the signal to my PC and output the signal in 1920x1200?
