For thermal paste, MX-4 is the cheapest and the best. For application, you should try two small lines on the heatpipes or the cpu, as the pea method doesn't do well with Hyper 212+ evo. I idle at 25c on a overclocked i7 930 with the original hyper 212+. 40 seems a little high :/

The two small lines is the method that I seem to be seeing a lot while reading on the 212 thanks I'll give that a shot. This was the first non-stock cooler that I've installed lol. And I'm starting to think I did to much of the paste, did the pea sized but it was a large pea :\. Like someone was saying I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make but I'll give it a shot.
