I image how much money Microsoft paid them to choose their OS.
Nokia manufactures excellent phones, they are high quality but they fail to realize what they need to compete with Samsung or HTC.
Well at least they left symbian behind that sucks imo.

So iOS is the best OS then? Is WP8 the best OS for smartphones today if you're not considering Androids or iPhones?

All of this comes down to preference. For example, I've had four Windows Phone 7's. The LG Quantum, Samsung Focus, Dell Venue Pro, and now the HTC Titan. Were they perfect? No, the Quantum's shift and function buttons were retarded, the Focus's screen scratched too much, the Dell's and Titan's buttons are too recessed; but the OS is great for me.

I don't have to download two dozen apps to make the phone usable, it links with my exchange server at home and another one at work, AND my hotmail and gmail accounts. It has facebook chat/sync/junk built into it. The mp3 play works fairly decently and supports better formats than iPods. Did I mention I can go >24 hours with average use (just phone calls and data sync) The live tiles are nice, but the only one that I actually pay attention to is the Weather app. GPS works pretty well, not that great for driving though because you have to hit the screen to get the next set of directions.

I'm still debating between the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Samsung Ativ S

Sorry for the WP7.5 review, I drank too much monster this morning.

It's comforting to know that Nokia has now fully adopted Microsoft's corporate culture: treating consumers with CONTEMPT, CONDESCENSION, and DECEPTION.

It really is so sad that such an amazing company is continuously SHOOTING ITSELF on THE FOOT.

I called this months ago. Not surprised at all.

IMO WP is horrible, and Nokia makes ugly devices.

No You didn't get what I meant. What I was trying to do is to leave iphones aside because they have never used any other OS because the OS is made by the same company who makes the phones that's why.I don't like iOS and I was never trying to say that it is the best OS no,I was just trying to focus on the other smartphones who use OS from other companies and they don't use their own OS(HTC,Samsung,Motorola, etc)

And I WAS considering Android that's the point, man I own a GS2 and I love flashing it with android custom roms.

MS just needs to understand that they are WAY too late in "correcting" or completely changing their ways from Windows Mobile. Windows Mobile has always been pretty bad on PDAs/phones. I guess people are sick of giving them chances and aren't bothering with WP7/8. It's also a matter of brand loyalty. The millions of people that have already committed to either iOS or Android and have bought apps on their markets aren't going to just hop platforms that easily.

Not sure why everyone is hating on Nokia or WP8 for that matter. Both are unreleased so you have never used them. WP7 was more or less an intro into the smartphone market and even then they received A LOT of rave reviews and most of those reviews were used with a Nokia Lumia. With the 920 especially, where was one aspect that a phone can really be improved? The camera. Nokia did that with a lot of new technology in their Pureview camera software and hardware. Other than that, what are all the other manufacturers doing? They are upgrading hardware which Nokia did because the WP8 architecture now allows it..anyone saying it should have been quad core has obviously never used a Windows Phone to see how smooth and fast it runs on a single core. Aside from the camera, they improved the display which appears to be unmatched by any competitors and also they improved with touchscreen which can now be used with a fingernail or glove...kind of important don't you think? Also they gave it Dolby sound (who else is doing that? Nobody). The Rich microphone for superior sound and video recording, etc etc. So many improvements..the only problem was the way they presented it at Nokia World with crappy public speakers.

Anyway, the things they improved on they improved on in a big way whether you see it or not. The hardware improvements on top of their extreme dedication to customized apps and software will be a great combination and will run flawlessly on WP8 which if it's anything like WP7 is going to run amazing. We have yet to see all of what is changing with WP8 but don't think Microsoft is ready to settle for the measly market share they currently have. I would consider WP8 the first release of Windows Phone because WP7 was more or less a beta IMO..now it's time to see what it can do and I believe we are going to see a lot of advertising this holiday season from Samsung (who may push WP due to recent Android events), HTC (because they are losing ground in the Android world), and obviously from Nokia who has several selling points for their phones that other competitors just don't have.

There is a reason all of the OEM's are sitting by waiting to see what happens with this first wave of releases...because they see the potential. Acer, Asus, LG, and Sony are all sitting and watching the numbers. If they think a market is there they are all going to get on board to further push WP. I expect a big jump in market share for WP come the holiday season..a BIG one.

For the record I have been a dedicated Android user for 2 1/2 years before anyone calls me a fanboy. Android and iOS are so similar and boring that I want to try something new and WP8 is a great alternative. There are plenty of people out there that seem to agree..

Its hard to enter the market againt phones like Galaxy S3 and the upcoming iPhone 5. Someone has to fail for MS/Nokia to enter. There is no third wheel.
