I pick up my windows phone 7.5 and I see live tiles filled with info. Like all phones I see what calls, messages, and mail I have gotten, right. On windows phone though I see what my schedule is for the day, the actual weather and not just a picture of the sun, what notifications and new things are going on with friends. This is just the stock apps that come with the device, and the best thing is any app can utilize live tiles.
I am a firm believer in windows phone and windows 8 simply because of live tiles. This sole feature is what has made me switch from an iphone 4 to a windows phone 7.5 htc trophy.

Thanks for mentioning the live tiles. I just recently picked up a lumia 710 (previous experience with nokia's low/mid range phones have been great) and had a weather app, but left it on the list menu. Now its on the tiles (because of above post) and the instant weather stuff is cool. The new tiles setup for 8 seems like a good improvement if you really like to stay connected to social media.

Autohide top bar,fog of war effect on Bing map,tap & hold, etc etc etc.i had ios android,I have a kindle fire and wp7.5 is just good ,no frill no drama,it does what you need.

I have been using andriod smart phones since I was assimilated by the smartphone borg (about 3 years back). But I am pretty stoked about the Lumina 920. I usually wait for prices to go down and buy a previous model, but for the first time I will be adopting a first year model. For all the nay sayers, unless you are dyed in the wool fans of your current OS, give Win 8 and Nokia the benefit of doubt and instead of nit picking something you still do not have.

There is one check vs WP.lack of flash

I've been an Android user for a couple of years now. My next phone will be a Windows Phone 8 based device. Android works but has failed to impress me, and I'm ready for something different. I have to reiterate what razorguy said, too. Neither the phones nor the OS have launched yet, so it's premature to rant on either.

---

With regards to the ads, it continues to surprise me that the ads have in turn surprised anyone else. It's like the lamest, least-interesting scandal of the last five years. Commercials demonstrating a product almost never show you the actual product or its function. The screens you see on laptops in commercials and print ads aren't actual photographs of those laptops displaying anything for instance. The savory food you see advertised is dripping in motor oil and hairspray, not delicious sauces. This isn't unusual or scandalous. It's...par. It's how it's all done. Why do you think Nokia is really apologizing? They're doing it not because they ethically or legally have to but rather because it's better PR to apologize (genuine fault or not) than respond by explaining why the loud, angry people are idiots.

There is no true informative content on either of these OS's, ( android has some but to even utilize multiple apps widgets you really need a tablet).

I pick up my windows phone 7.5 and I see live tiles filled with info. Like all phones I see what calls, messages, and mail I have gotten, right. I am a firm believer in windows phone and windows 8 simply because of live tiles. This sole feature is what has made me switch from an iphone 4 to a windows phone 7.5 htc trophy.

Looking towards the new OS, being windows phone 8, I only have great things to say such as the new home screen that uses every pixel of space along with new resizeable tiles that let you decide what info is the most important to you. And to the people who say that there windows phone is slow, what the hell are you doing to your phone? My iphone 4 would slow down constantly but I literally have not had one problem with slowness or input lag.

Call me a MS fanboy but I really am a person that tries every OS, hear me out. I have a macbook pro with mountain lion bootcamped with windows 7, I used to have a iphone 4 before the pos cracked on me, and lastly I have a htc android tablet. I am just not getting where all this bashing is coming from...

I turn on my Android, I immediately see the current temperature, whether it's warm, sunny, cold, wet, windy, etc, I also see any emails/messages I have, the time, what song I've got queued up to play, I'm one button press off seeing a rain radar for my local era, I can't see any reason to have anything else but if I wanted to I could put much more on it, I don't get where you get there being no "true informative content" on Android because it's got just as much as WP7.5 if not more due to the higher amount of 3rd party applications.

I am convinced you have never used an Android phone, or never learned to use it properly. These "live tiles" you speak of on WP, they exist on Android. They are called widgets and they do the same things you talk about. A picture of the sun? The weather here is mostly sunny with a high of 74 and low of 54. The temperature is currently 72. That is the information I get from just looking at my home screen on my Droid X2. By tapping that sun I get an overlay instantaneously that tells me the whole weeks forecast and more detailed information about today's, such as wind speed, sunrise/sunset times, storm chance, and what the temperature feels like. Tapping it again makes it disappear. I don't use schedule apps and widgets, but they are available stock on pretty much all android devices, and they're are droves of them on the Google Play marketplace, along with MILLIONS of other social, media, utility, financial, RSS, mail, etc. widget apps. And guess what? You can re size widgets and put them on different screens in according to which information you think is most important to you. Gee whiz isn't that nifty?

I can understand somewhat your frustration of people blindly bashing WP as a platform. However, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't misrepresent other platforms as you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Pft, I get that on my Lock Screen. biggrin.gif

In my case, the weather widget gives me the same as yours, when I tap it, it gives me the weakly forecast, but if I tap it again, I get a slider bar that will show me Temp, Humidity, High/Low, Wind speed, what it's like out, etc. On a half-hour split, for the next 24 hours. That's quite a bit of info tongue.gif
