7950 Vapor X Voltage Locked? - Page 2

I have a Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X and I can change my voltage.
I think at this point in time, there is a 50/50 chance that 7950s and 7970s from major brands like Gigabyte and Sapphire will come with locked voltage. Bought a Gigabyte 7950 from Microcenter over the weekend and it came unlocked but it may have been an earlier version that had been backstocked. I have yet to hear of this about MSI Tahiti chips.

Go into your BIOS and see if you can disable the iGPU, disabling the Virtu feature.
I've been having the same Afterburner locked voltage issue for many days too until I disabled multi iGPU support from BIOS; that somehow enabled the voltage slider.

Just signed up (after awhile of lurking) so I could respond to this thread.

I received my 7950 Vapor X a couple weeks ago and I cannot adjust the voltage either. In Trixx I can adjust the VDDC slider but after a few minutes my adjustment reverts back to the default setting (0.975v).

I went to check out iGPU in my BIOS. I see it but cannot disable it. There's only an auto setting and a manual setting. I have an ASUS P8z77-v LX.

I'll go take another look at it and see what manual has to offer in more detail.

I sent a ticket to Sapphire to see if they have any sort of response.

forcing voltage actually gave me voltage control over the "boost" mood voltages for the first time on my Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X 3GB and i could reach alot more higher clocks for gaming but not that ideal as you said we need a trixx / after burner upgrade to give those programs the ability to control the "boost" mood voltages because as of right now any changes that is made in voltages only applies to the "base" mood and i discovered this after alot of tinkering with the card.....

only work around is as you stated FORCE fixed voltage on all moods i.e ( 2d/base/boost ), hope this post was helpful and reaching out to the developers of trixx and afterburner PLEASE give us an update with fixed voltage control for the newer 7970's/7950's ( cards with boost mood )

I forced Afterburner to maintain constant voltage and it allowed me to push clock speed higher and maintain stability. If I don't have constant voltage set then the card does not stay stable above 1050mhz.

yea because no matter the voltage you set it doesn't apply in the "boost" state unless you force a fixed voltage in all states , i.e we need a trixx/afterburner update to make the voltages set by user apply in the "boost" state and not the "base" state.....

which means sapphire will not be able to sell that card any more until they give us a proper way to control the voltage !

Maybe it'll be the same case as the TOXIC. Otherwise I'm kinda bummed. Does give me a good reason to get a 7970 Vapor-X to Crossfire with my incoming 7950.
