7950 Vapor X Voltage Locked? - Page 17

atanastanas

I'm using constant voltage only while playing games , mostly BF3 , maximum 2 h per day and max gpu voltage at 1.135
I'm telling you it is 99% safe when temperatures not reach 70'C

Today I have reached 1200MHz on GPU >STABLE< but I had to lower my Memory clock to 1400MHz :/
now for the gaming using 1160MHz on GPU ( Vgpu 1.125 ) and 1480MHz mem Power Limit set up to +16
this settings are optimal form me

Card arrived today.
Having trouble increasing my clocks even by 1mhz. I get a big performance drop, which I don't understand. Anyone have any ideas?

Adjusting voltage doesn't work either but that's to be expected really.

Tried: Trixx, afterburner and CCC.

did you first max out the power option to +20% in AMD Overdrive in AMD CCC. if you are not able to overclock to 1.05 Ghz in AMD CCC and run stable in games its just a complete overclocking dud. you consider returning the card if you can .

Tons of people are having the locked voltage issue with this card. If you can, return it and grab the Gigabyte 7950. Sorry to hear

I've worked out the performance drop when increasing the clock speed. I needed to increase the Power control settings in ccc since I can't adjust voltage. I don't know why just 1mhz would make the performance drop but upping the power to +20 I saw performance increase with each addition to the clock speed. I got up to 1070 with it being stable. 1100 made my benchmark program crash but I was in a rush so couldn't try much inpatween.

have been using the constant voltage trick for weeks now using 1.12v for 1100 core on my vapor x 7970 because if i didn't do that while mining vrm temps shoots up because the vrms actually heat up on the stock voltage because it's a bit high !

well i wouldn't advise using constant voltage over 1.15 i fried one 7950 vapor x with that on 1.225 if you feel secure go ahead i would rather flash a bios instead

Sapphire have advised me to try Trixx v4.4.0b
http://www.sapphiretech.com/archive/drivers/TRIXX_installer_4.4.0b.exe_634854038404929144.zip

Can someone try this who has access to their computer?
