Thanks to those who answered me biggrin.gif, I was much help this forum, with the flashing of the bios I fell pretty vrm temperatures, one more question that's that Elpida 1250MHz?

Elpida IC memory chips are reported to not over clock well.

My Sapphire HD7950 950mhz edition has Hynix and they over clock very well. Pushing almost 1900mhz on them when i bench.

my memory on my card.

i bought this one from amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-SL-DVI-D-PCI-Express-11196-09-40G/dp/B009MML1UA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354559073&sr=8-1&keywords=vapor+oc

Confirmed it has 7970 PCB, but i can go past 1075 gpu clock, is anyone else having a isue?

Only thing i have enabled inside trixx is gpu clock, memory clock, Board LI and VDDC. I do not see voltage.

Post some photos of PCB. I doubt it has reference HD 7970 PCB.

Try my BIOS works very good.

Use Sapphire TRIXX MOD to over clock.

My BIOS works well for my card and a few people have told me it works best on their cards. Just something for you to experiment with. 1300mhz oc isn't guaranteed on any card but having the right BIOS and over clocking software is important.

There is a slider to the right of the window in TRIX over clocking settings. You have to slide down to see voltage control. Took me a few minutes to figure out the first time I used it.

Do me a favor and upload your BIOS. I want to try it out.

Is this card still worth getting over this one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202006
I've heard the power consumption is quite high

I've read or heard of about 4 different versions of the Vapor X. Haven't seen any photos of a Vapor X built on reference HD7970 PCB but people are claiming some of them are built on reference HD7970. Until I see PCB I wouldn't believe it. If Vapor X is built on reference HD7970 PCB then I would get it. I would flash my 950mhz Edition BIOS to it and see how far it will over clock. I have tried the Vapor X BIOS on my 950mhz Edition HD7950 and it doesn't clock very well with it.

I would rather get the VaporX. BUt it has to be the right one. Do keep in mind that it appears Sapphire has about 4 different versions of Vapor X floating around.

Hi all,

I just got a HD7950 Vapor-X and it came with 6+8 pin connectors, and the newest Bios revision (V09, X0A).
It is voltage locked in both BIOS modes (tried changing using Sapphire's Trixx and verified in GPU-Z). Core voltage is different in both BIOS versions.

According to GPU-Z, in standard bios mode , the core voltage peaks at only 0.96V.
I'm able to hit 1025/1825 (yes, the memory overclocks like crazy).
The card runs cool and quiet and VRMs stay well under 80C with Furmark torture.

With the boost BIOS, the core runs at 1.063V and I'm able to hit 1125/1825 with default fan speed profile. Perhaps 1150 would be possible with a custom fan profile, as the card does not crash instantly but only after some torture. The VRMs hit 100C with Furmark which is a bit uncomfortable but not as bad as some earlier reports indicate.

I'll stick to 1000/1800 and standard bios for the moment.
BTW, asic quality is 87% if that makes any difference.

Sounds very nice.

Please post some up close photos of the PCB to see it up close if you can. Have to remove heat sink to do that.
