7950 Vapor X Voltage Locked? - Page 76

I have been very impressed with the cooler, even with fan set to auto. I was concerned how it would do inside my Corsair 550D with all panels closed. Core has stayed below 70C and VRMs have stayed below 73. Fan speed has maxed out 55% Clocks are 1150/1350. Those readings are from running Heaven 3.0 overnight.

Did you check with GPU-Z if the clocks are constantly at 1150/1350 under load?
73C VRM is a bit too good to be true with this OC. Perhaps your card is throttling.

It's one of the best if not the best cooling solutions on air out there. If a custom fan profile is used, I reiterate myself, the Vapor-X cooling is(albeit noisy at high levels)second only to full block watercooling. That's all, Your Honor.

I would agree with this mostly. my 7870 had the HIS IceQ and man it was quiet and kept that gpu COOL under max oveclock. my 7970 with vapor-x is a tad more noisy (didnt record the fan rpms of the IceQ) and i get 68-69 degF max during gameplay

Beyond a shadow of a doubt. The log file confirms it.

That's really cool.
Can you please check what is you VDDC current output reported in gpu-z while running Furmark? Mine's 140A @ 1100/1650

I'm now using: 113-210p2hy-v0a (file 21020CH0.V4A that atiflash uses)
my old one when I started was: 113-210p2hy-v02

I have the 6+8 board ( PM: 299-2E210-001SA ) and got the bios from Sapphire.

Can't adjust vddc any more though....... really annoying.

sorry to double post but does anyone know why I might be having trouble changing my voltage since the bios update?

With my new vapor 8 by 8 pins, i am not able to max it out to 1200mhz core. Which is making me sad

you've upped the board power limit? Which Bios(1 or 2) are you overclocking with?

I wont worry about it, if it doesn't kill the card, no worries. Plus, I use headphones anyway. But just to check, it is prevalent in the Vapor-X series?

As for OC'ing, using Trixx, I have to set a voltage ~60mV above what I want. So for 1.2v, I have to set 1.26v, I assume this is droop under load? Currently I can do 1150/1400. 1150mhz was with 1.2v, haven't been able to get 1175 much less 1200mhz, but I've only tried 1.22v so far.

Sapphire has given me the green light to RMA due to the whine, but I dunno if I want the hassle if the thing can OC.

other question is which BIOS should I be OC'ing with?

Can anyone comment on my post?

Yup on +20 but that wouldn't have an affect on changing the voltage.

Using bios two, which I was previously able to change the vddc with. Not tried bios 1 but it should really work on both.

Tried Trixx 4.4b (I was the first person to post a link for it in this thread and confirm that the voltage wasn't locked) and 4.6.
Neither work anymore........
