What do you score in 3Dmark11? (basic edition, 1280x720, that is)
And what OC do you use when running?

A link to 3Dmark would be nice.

Also, do you use any Power-Li?

3D mark 11 basic graphic score is 10506 @ 1180/1400 1.3v constant , my overall 3D mark score is P7652

Now my rig comparably aged. Also it detected 5800 3D drivers so I need to see if i can wipe them off with Driver Infusion. My PC needs a reformat though.

Yes, Power Li has to be set. I keep it at 20%.

Ok, pretty decent core clock, dont you agree? After all it is a 380MHz OC.
The memory tho, hmm.

I haven't read all your posts, so maybe this is already answered in the thread. But i will be happy to help you up those memories, 1500 shouldn't be a big deal. 1180 on the core tho, that is not bad.

What Part# do you have?
I assume you have the boost version?
Do you use the latest MSI AB Beta version?
What does your GPU-Z says? BIOS version? Memory brand?
And what other components do you have? Processor, PSU and such.

edit: I looked at a previous post, and you have 1.6v on the mem. And you cannot get past 1415MHz?
That indicates that you have Elpida memories...

Yes I am pretty sure I have Elpida memory because it will not overclock any higher than 1400 and be stable.

MSI AB 2.3.1 (I didn't think the beta version would make a difference).

*Sapphire 7950 Vapor X with BOOST OC
BIOS version: 0.15.025.000.099.000000 Part #(113-210BBG-V08)

-Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4

-Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 B55, 3.5Ghz- Unlocked cores.

-PSU: Corsair 750 Watt.

-Memory: G.Skill gaming 4GB Lat. 7

-HD: Seagate 500gb.

Thanks, have you tried to increase the MVCD?

Yes and it is locked. Won't move past 1.6v in AB, although, I downloaded 4.4.0 mod of trixx and it seems i can now change memory voltage.

Strange. Try and up MVCD a little bit, also make sure you get the voltage you set in GPU-Z.
Say you set your MVCD to 1.65, i just tried that and no strange things happend, i ran a 3DMark bench @ 1700MHz. Second run, same settings, it started to artifact. So my max, for a stable and good 24/7 experience is 1200 / 1600.

Back to your card again, sorry rolleyes.gif
1.650 and up the memory to 1460MHz or something maybe, for starters...

Are you overclocking on Boost BIOS?

I attempted a few different memory voltage changes, anything clock wise 1415+ = black screen. From what I have learned, this card always needs more voltage than most and it seems the ASIC score accurately reflects that voltage need.

I do not know how high i can push the voltages on memory. I am hesitant to push past 1.7v because from the information I have gathered Elpida memory shouldn't go much higher than that.

No no, i would not run those above 1.65 for longer times, then just some short testing.

Low ASIC could be one thing. But the Elpida modules aint famous for their good OC-ability biggrin.gif. What ASIC-value do you get?
Did you verify that you got 1.65v on mem with GPU-Z? When you set that in Trixx?

I have a pretty low ASIC myself, 59.1%. But i am happy with my OC, 1200 / 1600, there is no way i can complain when i get 350-400MHz of OC.
I have the Hynix so. So low ASIC or not. With Elpidas you will have a rough time reaching that 1500-1600MHz border. That is for sure.

I use the none boost bios when i OC, default clock 850/1250.

Does somebody know if the Elpida ram has faster timings than the Hynix? My VApor X HD7950 with the slow Elpida memory plays games very well even it is just at 1300mhz.

My Elpida memory doesn't go faster than 1400mhz as well at 1.6V. but I run it at 1300mhz with 1.55v on memory voltage and that is stable and plays games well. Nowhere near as fast as my Sapphire 950mhz Edition HD7950 which can go as fast as 1800mhz on the memory.

Does play well and makes me wonder if the timings of the Elpidas are faster than the HYNIX which could explain why the Elpida doesn't over clock well. Not sure.

I think the heat sink is bad design on the VApor X BOOST. The HEAT sink makes contact with the GPU and the memory and sponges up alot of heat. Better design would be separate heat sinks for the memory. All the heat between the memory and the GPU is just going to sponge up the heat on the heat sink. Poor design IMO.
