EK CPU Block, safe to use?

Thread Starter
I bought this CPU block off of eBay, its the EK Supreme LTX, its good looking unit, and I think I paid a fair price for it. However there is something odd going on under the top cover. In the images you can see some white colouring, is this corrosion? Some kind of adhesive? I have no idea, can anyone tell me what they see here?

Oddly, it is under the top cover, not inside the block, so theoretically no liquid should get under here.

I can take more photos if necessary.

Isn't the top cover also the part that comes in contact with the coolant? It should be fine to use but I would open it up and give it a clean out.

Ah yes, forgive my lack of depth perception, it is actually on the underside where it does make contact with the coolant. I took it apart, and it does need a good clean, but should be fine.

Now what to clean it with........

Mild vinegar solution mixed with distilled water or use ketchup(and a fine soft tooth brush), water alone wont do a good enough job-that will give a really clean and shinny block, obviously rinse well afterwards with distilled water.
Enjoy your new block, btw, do not tighten the block too tight, the mounting bracket is plexi and can break, or at the very least you will cause bowing of the bracket-finger tight and you're good to go. thumb.gif

Have a read here to verify what i have told you about mounting, and in-depth info about your new block: http://martinsliquidlab.org/2012/03/18/i7-3930k-cpu-ek-supreme-ltx/
