For the record, I've accumulated some components, but not all.. What I have...
Corsair 650D case
SeaSonic 650X Gold PSU
2 WD Caviar Black HDD.. 1TB and 500MB
Intel i5 Sandy Bridge 2500K CPU
MS Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
Corsair Vengeance Memory .. 4x4GB
What I need..
Mobo... Either Asus Sabertooth Z77 or MSi Z77 MPower, and I'm leaning toward the MSi because of the 100% testing and hardened components. I don't like dealing with DOA items, and I do not like being the product tester for the various manufacturers. I believe that the type of testing MSi is doing with the MPower should be the standard of the industry. RANT OFF.. I'm leaning toward the MPower for this very reason.
CPU cooler .. Corsair H-100i .. And I'm awaiting the improved version. I just hope I can hold out.
Optical Drive. Definitely a writer with probably another seperate reader
I've also got assorted fans and parts to finish up..
So, in conclusion, I'll be looking hard at the GT-640's. The graphics card in this old computer was recently toasted (EVGA N-7600) and on-board video is quite bad (Pentium D... the bane of my existance to keep cool), so I'm looking forward to the update..
Thanks again to all for the great advice, and feel free to comment on anything I've posted here..

I must say though, for not being a gamer you sure do have a kick-ass rig! thumb.gif
In my opinion you should really start gaming, just so as to treat that beast the way it should be treated. lol biggrin.gif

nVidia's naming is not too hard...as long as ppl don't through random codenames.

In a nutshell, 4xx - 5xx - 6xx - 1st digit is the "generation" - more or less accurate. The GTX 560ti was replaced buy the GTX 660ti etc.

Wait, what did I see there? GTX -> that's the product tier, according to nvidia's marketing at least.

GT = low end-mid end. Given those are no more than 1-2 generations behind, should do pretty fine for general computing, movies, 2D graphics, photo editing etc. Will not say no for games, especially if you don't wish for the newest and pretiest of games, or you don't pump the settings @ high/ultra.
GTS = now seems not to be used was mid-high. Slightly better than GT, mid-range gaming cards
GTX = top of the line gaming cards, also favored by some for GPU accelerated productivity apps.

GT 6xx are fine, definately much better than the HD2000/3000 which already could do ok for general computing.
Don't fall for the VRam size marketing...512MB are more than fine. 1GB won't hurt, but for stuff that would need it, the GPU would already be lagging.

Some of the GTS cards of the lowest 600 series if gaming may be an interest in the future.

So basically you are looking for a VERY stable system.

Here is the reality of the situation. If you are not gaming at all and you are not doing anything video intensive, then just stick with the integrated graphics on the CPU. If you are going to play any games at all, get a GTX 660 ti so that the performance will at least last you a couple of years.

Yes, Stability, reliability and longevity are keys to this build. I don't mind paying the price for components, but I want quality in return.

Thanks again to all for some sound advice!
