Intel board and CPU

I got approx. $500 now, what good 680i board should I buy? The eVGA's or wait for the Striker? And the CPU, should I get a E6300, E6400, and maybe the E6600(I can spend a little more). OR should I wait for a cheaper Quad core Intel CPU for the future and I stay with a spare 805 I got now.

Are you going to be using SLI in the future? If not get this

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 $147
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012

If you are then you should wait for ASUS to bring out their 680i board

I want SLi, because I like nVidia. But the Striker is around $100 more than the eVGA's, or maybe price change in the future...

If you went with that Striker, you'd only have approx. $100 left anyways... I would recommend getting the eVGA board and an e6600, but that puts you over $100. You could just pay the money now, or wait until it comes down. Keep in mind by then, there will be something new out that you'll want, classic problem with computers. I say bite the bullet and just pay, but I ain't got the money right now anyways.

But you don't have an nForce chipset currently?

Sure, the 6800 GT was the greatest cards in those days but I'd never go SLI nor nForce chishpet.

$1000 for SLI, minimum? just wait 4-to-6 more months and the next gen card will cost less and be faster, half your money down the drain there, not a wise investment IMO.

But if you have the cash? Go for it!
