Nintendo Wii Minecraft server

Ok, so a Wii is technically a computer, so couldn't I put a bigger storage drive in and install my own operating system, like Linux, and I could use it as a server? Like for a minecraft server? I was just wondering if this is possible and how it could be done.

theoretically, could homebrew and get linux running. but realistically even if you managed to do so, which is not easy in itself, the specs just dont cut it. minecraft servers are heavily RAM intensive

Your theory would work. However, a theory is just a theory. By principle alone I would say yes. But there is just no conceivable way to do what your asking, to my knowledge. But no, no you can't turn a wii into a computer. Ps3 could do that or a while after launch and that might of worked but as of now, just use a computer and save you some time and hassle. And by the way, even of you managed to do it no one else has so you would be on your on if any problems come up-and they always do, if you know what I mean.

Since the Wii is useless, how much do you think I could get for it with all the games if I sold it?

you can indeed install debian on a homebrew'd wii

http://fartersoft.com/blog/2011/08/17/debian-installer-for-wii/
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii-Linux

but specs just not good enough to even support the game/server.

if its in mint condition, and you have all cables/controllers/manuals + at least 4-5 GOOD newer games, could prob get like 80-100

Why not take some measurements, and see if you can squeeze a mini ITX computer inside of it instead? Might make for a very VERY cool computer mod project.

Cool, I like that idea, but I don't have a tritip scewdriver, so I can't open the case. Where can I get one?
