Am I not washing my mousepad right?

Hello forums,

Just like the title, I'm having a tad-bit of trouble with my mouse pad. I have a steelseries QcK+ and after about a year of usage, dirt has became seemingly apparent on the mouse pad, which irritates me a little. So just like what I've read from the forum, I first attempted to wash the mouse pad in lukewarm water with the cloth washing detergent. It looked a little cleaner but there were still dirt spots that I couldn't get rid of.

At this point would washing it in the machine help? Is it unsafe to wash it with the clothes and I have to do another load for the mouse pad?

Just a question to see if I can save this mouse pad before I give up and spend another $12 dollar for a new one.

Thanks! wink.gif

Wash any cloth mousepad in the washing machine at either 40-60 degrees C in a bag for delicate things. (GF or Mum should have one of those, as they are used mainly for their lingerie).

Dry on a towel dryier rubber base down. Put a towel on the towel dryier then put the mat on top of that. If you dont put the towel below the mat, the heat from the towel dryier may melt the rubber base.

After its dry - it's good as new

I haven't had any problems with hand washing my QcK+ and it coming out clean, you could try machine washing it although I've seen mixed results for that. If you do end up machine washing it then let it air dry, I ruined a Puretrak Talent a while ago by throwing it in the dryer on low heat, the rubber base became really soft and as a result the pad felt really slow afterwards.

Or you could just spend $15 on a new one.

I used a brush to clean my qck and that did wonders, though with mousepads you have to be careful not to tear or pull fibers from the surface when cleaning it with a brush. I used a toothbrush as it was the only thing that had soft bristles and that worked very well.

Did you use regular soap or did you use detergent? Or just plain scrubbing? biggrin.gif I might pick up your advice, sounds like a fast/easy job.

Sounds like what most people are suggesting, Thanks!

Ouch! Sorry for your loss, and I'll remember that if I plan on throwing it in the washing machine..
