Guys guys... let's slow down here... who is buying the processor for me again, I keep forgetting

Well, like I said, I'll see what I can do, and that Opty doesn't look so bad (sexy beast it is), and let me go look at the X2 O_O

Opteron 165: $159.99

Seems like the dual core Athlons start to play hard to find... I am guessing the halt in production of the socket 939 starts to show.

Yep; but the socket 939 is such a nice socket. I can't wait for AM3

yah, the opty 165 would probably be your best choice in this case... both the fx55 and 3700 are single core and to keep up right now, you really need to be considering going dual core...
plus the opty is cheaper than the fx55, dual core, and overclocks to around 3ghz

I agree with the people here, either an X2 3800 or an opty 165. The X2 will save you some money, but those opty's sure are fast...go with whatever you wan't, which may be whatever is easier to find.

Well as Conroe would be an expensive solution you should give that a miss. Even though a 3700+ Would prove to be a better Overclocker than the FX55 , The FX55 is still a great chip. However I would consider going Dual core. Either an X2 or Opteron chip. I would reccomend the Opteron 165 for you as its a great overclocker and very affordable. Socket 939 IMO is not dead all depends on your preference and what you will be using your PC for.
