Getting a monitor directly from Korea

Thread Starter
I was wondering if anyone had any experience buying the popular Korean IPS monitors directly from Korea. I have a friend staying there and is wiling to test the monitor for dead pixels/bring it over on his flight back...

Anyone done this before? What would we need to prepare for/where should we buy/any other suggestions?

The main things that spring to mind are a) the box is large and bulky - sure as heck won't be hand luggage - so you'd be entrusting it to the tender mercies of the baggage carousel, and b) would imagine that trundling through customs with the box is a very good way of ensuring you get stung for any relevant import duties etc.

I'd maybe suggest getting your friend to check out a screen there, but then get it FedEx'ed (or similar) over to you - looking at how many ebay sellers are chucking in free and fast delivery, I'm guessing it's pretty cheap from Korea!

Well, the box isn't THAT big. Thin suitcase sized. However probably too big for carry on like you said and I cringe at the thought of baggage claim handling it. The shipping isn't really free, they just include it in the price. Those monitors go from 225-260 for locals of s.korea I've read.
