[Build log] Simple case switch

Here is a short build log of switching my lady's crappy old Raidmax case to a sexy CM690 II Adv freebie. The Raidmax fan's were starting to die and the front door hinge was also starting to go bad, so the CM690 was as a blessing and really gave new life (and lower dust/temps) to her rig.

A quick run-down of her rig:
  • CM 690II Adv.
  • GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
  • Intel C2Q Q6600 @ 3.2ghz
  • MSI 5770 Hawk
  • GSKILL 4GB DDR2
  • Seagate 640GB 7200RPM HDD
  • Antec Earthwatts 500W

Here was the case that I won, it came with another top panel and had a regular side panel (which I gave away to another member) and windowed side panel.

Here was the old Raidmax case... very heavy and had the old-style layout.

I took my time cleaning all of the case, but it gave me a good idea of how to deal with cable management.

This is with everything mounted and pre-cable management.

As you can see, it looks very messy in the back, but it was really a pleasure to do cable management with this case.

Here are some completed shots:

A couple of shots compared to my Prodigy:

Thanks for looking!

I'm a big fan of my CM 690 II as well biggrin.gif

Did you feel like there was enough room behind the motherboard for cables? I feel like an extra 1/4" would've helped immensely.

With the small amount of components, nope. Had it been used for my old system before, I would have agreed. Multple GPUs + HDDs take up a lot of space.
