Amongst these cpus´ which one do you guys thing would give the best performance while giving the best battery life as well. What i mean is a balance between the both...I know i7 would be the least of a battery saver but does the extra performance it gives, worth the battery life? I mean, it is possible to disable 2 cores so that it consumes less power or would it continue to consume the same amount of power?

The i5 is great on battery! My ex's laptop had one and it got 10 hours on a 6 cell battery I think.. Might have been a 3 cell.

Depends on the GPU with the i5, I personally would grab the A8, With so many consumer applications utilizing GPU acceleration, it is a much better choice for web browsing, MS office and windows 7/8. Also, the iGPU is much better than the HD2000/3000 that the i5/7 comes with.

I would go with the i5 then. But personally, I would build a tower for gaming and get a cheap laptop or netbook for note taking, you will have a much better gaming experience.

I personally don't like gaming computers anymore since i built one back in 2006 and you can say that i'm pretty much not interested anymore. It is fun gaming on laptop since you feel personal and i don't do heavy gaming with maxed out graphics and such therefore i don't mind buying a laptop.
1. What i really wanted to know was that how does 2nd gen i7 perform with a 6 cell battery, i mean how many hours can it push
2. If i was to disable cores when not using them, would that affect battery life a lot?

Yeah, disabling cores does save battery life but it's a bit of a hassle.
A friend with a i7 2630M has a Dell laptop that lasted about 2-3 hours on battery new, it still does and he uses it everyday.

Thing is, i just had i5 2410m and i wasn't happy with the performance tbh. The gaming side of it was fine as much as my gfx could handle but when it came to multi tasking. It even gave problems with running 8-10 tabs of google chrome with two google chrome windows open. The cpu reached 80% or so....so i thought that quad core would be a better deal now? maybe the trinity ones? since they use 35W tdp

Hmm disabling cores on a Core i5 2450m is a pretty 'dumb' idea since it's a Dual Core CPU with 4 threads hyper threading.
