*Updates further down in thread*
I've been running a Corsair H100 CPU cooler since October of 2011 flawlessly. Last night I power on my machine and I didn't hear the distinct sounds of fans so I powered down and went to open my case. As I'm moving it to a table I hear something rambling around inside. I take the side panel off and both of the two fan blades had become dislodged from the housing and motor assembly and one of the fans had a noticeable amount of liquid on it. At first I thought lubricant from the fans had spilled out even tough there sure was a lot of it on the blade itself. Did a quick look around the case and only saw a little bit of the fluid around the case wall near where the cooler is mounted. I popped the fans back in and they were held in place by the magnets of the motor although they were sitting loosely in the housing. Put everything back together and went to power up again but I thought I'd better take a second look around.
So after moving the case to some better light I notice there is more liquid on the case wall, the water block itself, on my power supply housing, a single drop on the heat spreader of my RAM, and on the hosing between water block and radiator. I took off the radiator fans, water block, and when I went to remove the radiator I noticed more liquid dripping down the hose. I found that one of the hoses had a hairline crack that liquid is leaking from. I padded the areas dry with a proper cloth and blew a can of compressed air all over.
I attached the stock i7 cooler to boot up and see where I was at. Everything looked good, but then my monitor went black and the lights on it indicated no video source and after a few moments my PC rebooted. I let it sit idle for about 10 minutes, no crashes. Then I started up Battlefield 3, everything looked fine then I saw a bunch of vertical discolored lines and flashing on different textures then it locked up with the sound looping and PC crashed to a reboot again. I tried World of Warcraft to look for similar behavior and sure enough after a few minutes of flying around in game the game crashed in an array of colors and PC rebooted. At this point I just powered off and here I am. Its worth noting that I did not see any liquid on the exposed back plate of by upper card and I cannot see any discoloration on the PCB yet ..I clearly have an issue.
These video cards are huge and unfortunately I do not have another system that I can put them into to test them independent of my freshly watered machine. So I cannot rule out the fact that there is something else causing this.
I'm curious as to what the heck would cause the fans to pop out and if the leak is somehow related. Its worth mentioning the computer hasn't been moved in a few long time and nothing touches it other than my finger on the power button so I confidently rule out outside physical damage and inside all wires and cables are secured.
I opened a support ticket with Corsair last night and they've yet to get back to me. I've read a few posts here and on other forums about Corsair's support on this matter. I'm looking for advice on how best to proceed to get a new H100 and determine if indeed my card has become damaged so that hopefully they can reimburse me for this very expensive component as well.
