CM Storm Spawn Question

Thread Starter
I got my CM Storm Spawn in the mail today. Coming from a Deathadder, I'm quite happy with it.

I did notice something odd, though. The red paint on it is... fading? Basically it's two shades of red, in an erratic pattern that can't possibly be intentional. At first I thought it was moisture from my hand, but it won't rub off. I haven't used it for more than five minutes, so it's possible it was like this out of the box. Clicky for picture. (Ignore the white from the flash.)

Is this a common issue? It doesn't really bother me enough to return it; so long as it doesn't get any worse.

I've had my Spawn for 8 months now and the color out of the box was a nice uniform Wine Red. It's smooth and the only bumps felt are where the logo and name are printed. After 8 months mine is still almost like new with no real change in color or wear except some scratching on the feet.

Does the mouse track pretty smoothly? How are the buttons? I'm not sure if the splotches are from the flash. If not then that is not a normal color.

They're not from the flash unfortunately. It's not bumpy, and the mouse works flawlessly -- it's purely cosmetic.

I figured it may have been a common issue, but I guess not. I suppose I'll exchange it, for the sake of resale value. Thanks!

After about 1 year of using the Spawn 8+ hours a day, I have not had any paint fading.

My paint has flaked off in a couple of areas after about a year of use.

My experience as well. Still holding up good after a year of use.

So I got a new one, and while it isn't anywhere near as bad, the paint job is still dodgy around the "SPAWN" logo. Furthermore, it doesn't glide as smoothly as the one I already had. It's also noticeably heavier.

The QC on these isn't very good. ninja.gif

It's expectable for such a cheap mouse (well, cheap for a gaming mouse).
Still one of the best I've tried, mine doesn't have any paint issues or so.
