Is the G500 a good mouse?

Thread Starter
Right so I have just ordered myself a G500 after tryin to decide on a mouse for about a week.
I was actually looking at a bunch of different mice but couldn't decide on them because of hearing about all their reliability issues or general poor performance etc,
Then I happened to come across the G500 for only £30 so I went for it as it seemed like a good performing mouse for the price and I really didn't want to spend more on a mouse I wasn't 100% on.
I own a naga atm but hate it during FPS games but I have previously owned a deathadder and a sensei and just want to know how this mouse compares to oher mice considering reliability and performance.
I have my birthday coming up so If need be I can ask my gf to buy me a better one smile.gif so suggestions on a better mouse are also welcome

Thanks

I've used one for over a year and it's served me very well. For FPS's I map the thumb button for reloading and it makes a big differance for me. Plus is fits my hand great and its heavy (I like prefer heavy)

The G500 is a beautiful mouse if it is comfortable for you. That is the #1 I would consider when purchasing a mouse. Good is a relative term. Specs and aesthetics are only half of the picture. If it isn't comfortable to you then all the best specs and looks in the world would be rendered next to useless, since you can't use the mouse.

I have personally owned the DeathAdder, Mamba, G5, G500, G7, G700, and G9x. The mouse that I ended up staying with was the G700, partly because the G700 is a perfect combination between a wireless mouse and a gaming mouse with the ability to do both wireless and wired. The mouse also contoured perfectly to my (right) hand. The features also work beautifully for the games I play (mainly FPS). I would definitely check the G700 out if it's in your budget.

My friend has this mouse. I used it for about 5 minutes. My overall feeling is that it fits my hand well.

It might be the mouse for you if it fits your hand well.

The only problem i have is the only store in my city is small and doesn't really sell much, they only sell a couple of £5/£10 mice that are just crappy and for general use so whenever i buy a mouse i have to kinda guess and go on reviews because i have no way of popping into a store and trying them out to see if they fit my hand

G500 is an excellent mouse, you should be very happy with it. I've used the Deathadder, G500, M700, G700 and while I consider the G700 the superior mouse of the 4 the G500 takes a very close second place. Once you get your G500, if you intend to use setpoint and it cannot find the mouse disable setpoint at startup via msconfig and launch it manually after boot. Works every time.

To be honest I thought the g500 was too heavy and clunky. It doesn't glide too well on any of my mouse pads either. It does, however, have a decent amount of buttons and it fits a palm grip nicely. If you're not too concerned about making fast and precise movements that a lighter mouse would allow, then it's not a bad mouse.
