Is the G500 a good mouse? - Page 3

I used to have a G500 and I didn't really like it cause it's just too heavy even with the weights and the weight cartridge removed. Lifting the mouse is a total pain in the ass especially for me as a mid-low sensitivity gamer .

Its a good mouse. I liked G5 a bit better than G500 but the G500 is not a bad mouse at all. Now if its the best mouse or not - that depends on the personal preferences.

Check if you got correct version of setpoint or contact their support, they answer quickly those.

I felt like it tracked really weirdly compared to my G5. Couldn't really put my finger on what exactly felt different, it just felt "off".

That's because it is off. It has inconsistent acceleration depending on how fast you move the mouse just like all other mice that share a similar sensor to the G500. Acceleration is one thing but inconsistent acceleration is much worse. The G500 is junk because of this flaw among a few others. Example from Skylit's mouse guide:

I personally own or have direct access to the G5, G500, MX518 and G400. The wheel and side buttons on the G500 take one week to get used to (for a longtime MX518 owner). Make sure you disable hyperscroll by pressing the little button beneath the wheel. That is only useful for browsing (I personally never use it).

It's a great mouse, i prefer really heavy mice, and have all 6 of the heaviest weights in, the highest DPI is blazing fast, button placement is great and is the second-best fitting mouse I've ever had (the best being my Cyborg RAT 7 which is so adjustable it feels like an extension of me biggrin.gif )
