Is the G500 a good mouse? - Page 4

The mouse is heavy, nice shape (and big), terrible skate compund (feels like plastic).
The wheel is nice for productivity and such but I hate it for gaming because it has side scrolling.

For me is an excelent mouse but not a gaming one.

Then I happened to come across the G500 for only £30 so I went for it as it seemed like a good performing mouse for the price and I really didn't want to spend more on a mouse I wasn't 100% on.
I own a naga atm but hate it during FPS games but I have previously owned a deathadder and a sensei and just want to know how this mouse compares to oher mice considering reliability and performance.
I have my birthday coming up so If need be I can ask my gf to buy me a better one smile.gif so suggestions on a better mouse are also welcome
Thanks

Hey,

My college was selling them for 40$ last week, so being the retard I am, I got one.
Feature wise it's really excellent. I really like the scroll wheel, and the third side button is usefull if you use push to talk.

Now tracking wise,
Well I use mine at 800 CPI. At this sensitivity, the acceleration is not really noticeable. I mean, it's here, but it's not that obvious.
The sensor location is a little bit problematic. Once again, it wont make you unable to play any game but if you are used to, let's say, a G400, you will notice a difference. Once again not that huge, but there will be one.

It does not jitter nor have prediction. The lift off distance is also really low.

Overall I would say that it's a fairly good mouse.

What's wrong with the feets?
They are almost on par with my deathadder's hyperglides in term of speed. I can say that they feel much faster than the Perfectglides that i've stuck under my G400.

I would just like to say the weights are a gimmick. My G500 is heavy enough as it is without the weights.

+! on that, they should have removed that thing and put the sensor in the middle instead.

I don't know if they have made another round with a different compound but my G500 has like 3 times more feet friction than my TTesports Saphira (which has the best glides I've tried). The glides are big but still feel like plastic to me, the compound is definitively not PTFE (teflon).

I'll give you that they are def. not teflon. There is a difference between them and my hyperglides, which are teflon. I would not say that they are as bad as, let's say, the stock feets that comes with a deathadder.

Also, ''plastic'' is a very general term.
Teflon is actually plastic.

I never tried the DeathAdder but I must say the skates on my Copperhead (also razer) ruled. It was a white compound, very slippery.
The skates on my Orochi (also razer) are made of a black compound, also more slippery than the ones on the G500.

I think the deathadder has 3 very thin white compund little skates so I wouldn't expect a good glide, mainly because of the bottom coverage.

Yeah, that's the real problem actually. The small sticker around the sensor would drag on your surface because of the skates beeing too thin.
