The game had better come through now. The Dev team seems pretty capable and devoted so I got a good feeling.

Still nervous about paying before its developed.

I'm concerned about the total budget needed to make this game. Chris Roberts keeps saying it will require 12 million, which is being covered by outside investors. I'm no game dev, but 12 million does not seem like a large amount of money to make what -I- want out of this game. Hopefully it meets my expectations smile.gif

Don't consider advertising, engine licensing (they're cooperating with Crytek to make Cryengine 4, likely wipes out their license fee for it), don't consider non-essential staff (ie legal team the size of a small town), don't consider lore licensing, no outsourcing other than mocap, voice acting, and music. Don't consider investors that will be taking anything off the top. Then don't consider a massive team rushing the game to finish.

They're sitting around 16 Million, the 10 million was conditional on a 2 million crowdsource.

Small, experienced, cohesive team can easily do this project in 2 years.

Games tend to be much cheaper when you cut out the massive administrative and marketing costs associated with big publishers. That and space games have cheaper environments(vacuum is unsurprisingly easy to model and texture).

Ya I asked that earlier b/c that doesn't seem like a lot of money for what he wants to do then someone enlightened me he doesn't have to pay for a publisher which charges millions alone or doesnt have to pay for any kind of advertisment he doesn't have a huge team to pay so that's millions he's saving all the money he has from investors plus fans is over 16mil all to the game. Plus in the next 2 years fans can still help out with subscriptions fees and add ons it will all be mentioned when the new site is up..

Although i'm still skeptical even though i pledged 125 and i just work min wage >.< he does promise a ridiculous game the boarding another player ship thing and then the game being an FPS as well as you can fight on the hull of your ship if someone is trying to board with magnectic boots all the real physics of the individual thrusters. If you have a capital ships your friends being able to man turrents and take of on ship you have on board as well as walk around your ship and little things like play games on the ship ie. like an arcade mini game kind of like what starcraft 2 wings of liberty had "Lost Viking" He def set the expectations really really high.............
