Using a mouse with usb 3.0 and latency

I've using my mouse in a usb 3.0 port for a long time, and I saw a thread that said it had a higher latency compared to usb 2.0 because it uses a different controller. Is this true? Are there any other differences?

Depends.

If your motherboard utilizes an external controller, it may add minor latency, but it shouldn't be anything detrimental.

Native USB 3.0 is exactly like the native USB 2.0 ports in terms of latency.. Some USB 2.0 mice may have issues working on a 3.0 controller. It's really subjective to the hardware itself.

External controller on board.


By native, I mean the chipset controls USB rather than an add on chip.


No mice have USB 3.0, and theres no reason to believe they'll go that route for awhile. USB2.0 is plenty for input devices such as KB and mice.

Meaning it is NOT Native. So yes, there is some slight added latency on your USB 3.0 controller vs. your native 2.0 controller.

native uses chipset controller, non native uses third party like asmedia

About how much added latency? And are all the usb 2.0 ports the same? The usb 3.0 ports are in between 2 seperate usb 2.0, not sure if that indicates they're different or something.

the question is why do you use 3.0 for your mouse? there is absolutely no benefit on doing that, it might even hurt performance due to higher latency of third party 3.0
