Timings help: 8GB DDR3 1866 / Phenom II X6 1045T / North Bridge: 970

Thread Starter
Hey everybody,

Just picked up a 1045T from along with a Biostar TA970XE motherboard. I haven't built an AMD system for awhile so I'm mostly unfamiliar with their architecture.

The board supports up to 1866, but in BIOS, I can only select up to 1600. I've updated to the latest BIOS already. Do Thubans not support higher than 1600? Do I need to increase the CPU Clock (FSB?). If I am limited to 1600 and under, what frequency and timings should I go for? Stock settings for the memory are 1866 @ 9-9-9-27 1.5V

Thanks.

Increase htt, lower ht multiplier. Also you need to increase cpu/nb frequency to about 2400-2600 (2600 mhz probaly would require 1.3V).If you have stock cooler (according to your sig) then just leave ram at 1600mhz (because stock cooling can't handle overclocking).

The NB speed needs to be around 2800 to fully use the memory at 1866.

Yeah you are right. But just to make it stable it requires 2400-2600mhz nb.

The max memory multiplier on Phenom II x6 is x8. You need to increase the bus clock (which you'd do anyway by overclocking the processor?) to hit 1866Mhz DDR3.
