To the OP: if you come this forum and post about a mainstream product being worth it's value you clearly haven't experience this forum in all of its depth. Go read some. Everyone here is extremely nerdy and geeky and we pride our selves on it and would never pay $400 for something that can be had for less than $100 from a different manufacturer (eg Audio Technica, Grado, etc.) We are not bros, or fashionistas, we like hardware, high quality for the right priced hardware.

Also, I think you're trolling. Hilarious trolling, indeed.

To the rest: It's an internet argument, I think they have this as an example when defining futile in the dictionary.

Kinda surprised there's so much dislike for Beats on an enthusiast site like this but whatever.

Best place to find the right head phones: http://www.head-fi.org/ even they will agree that beats are not worth the price tag on them. Only reason they cost as much as they do is they have Dre's name on them and Monster makes them which they already overcharge for HDMI cables so it isn't a surprise they would do the same with beats.

You should try posting this at head-fi.org .... should be an awesome sight...

Anyway, even though if I was going to spend $400 on an audio setup, I would most definitely not get beats, glad it woks for yo. You haven't specified which sony headphones you tested with so that won't help your case much. I still don't think "beats" are worth the price right now; for some people, it is heavenly quality, for others, they sound like $20 headphones.

To each his own.... I guess ... (Psychologically, there is the chance that you are subconsciously skewing their quality to your ears to justify your purchase tongue.gif. Then again, that can be said for any expensive audiophile setup )

I saw a frequency response graph for the beats and it made me want to cry ... (I think it was being compared to an M50 or something )

You are misunderstanding things here. This IS an enthusiast site. Which is why most of us don't like BEATS. They are sub-par quality for the price and you can get just a set that will out-perform the BEATS for much cheaper. Just because they are $400 doesn't mean they are quality. They are able to sell them because Dr. Dre put his name behind it and people like Dr. Dre. Simple as that.

You can stay in your loop of disbelief or you can do the research and see that most enthusiasts of audio despise BEATS.

I don't have any local shops to test out high end cans either. It's kind of a shot in the dark sometimes.
Beats aren't enthusiast cans, lol. They are the fisher price of audio.

How come Eminem is not wearing his best bud's Headphones then?

Thats pretty much it, if they were about $120-130, they would be much more respected. I would put them at about the same level as Audio Technica's ATH-M50s, for the price they are, some Denon D5000s would actually be the smart choice.

I'd rather listen to them before buying though. I got to listen to the Beats before I paid for them.

Not that I'm calling you a liar but, Beats have won a lot of awards and is one of the biggest brands right now. That's just not possible on marketing alone. If they were as bad as $20 headphones, no one would buy them. Logo or not, lol

Not saying they're the best, but come on, lol.

They might be a little overpriced but so is everything at the high end enthusiast segment. I saw Batman in IMAX over the summer. Watching movies on my PC with these literally sounds just as good.
