Overclock my AMD FX 8120

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum and I'm a newbie when it comes to OC
I'm trying to overclock my FX 8120 .. Can someone post a link/thread or post some step by step
configuration on BIOS. I would really appreciate your help.

Here is my current setup:
AMD FX 8120
cooler master 212 evo
Gigabyte 990fx ud3
Crucial ballistix tactical 8gb 2x4
MSI 7950 twinfrozr
SSD Corsair 64gb boot up only
WD sata 320gb
Antec PSU 750W
Win 7 64
I have 3 case fans (2) 8m and 1 stock fan
per core temp CPU temp is stable at 19 to 20C

hello,
i dont know your mobo but i will run though the things you need to do.
first go in to bios and turn off cool and quite,c1e,c6 state, apm (application power management) and the turbo core.
now have a look for something called cpu load line calibration, that control's the power of you cpu when under a full load,like prime or occt.
i have got mine at 4 ghz, the voltage is at 1.29v and i change the load line so that when under a full load the voltage dose not chance.the cpu load line changes with different mobo's , so testing is the only way to find this out.
i suggest though 4ghz at 1.29v manual cpu voltage and a high cpu load line,the stock voltage is above these figure's and it should run fine.

I was able to OC it to 3.5ghz but the rest of my settings in bios are all stock , lol pretty weak
but ill try that

check that your memory is not in ecc mode,odd bios error with asus mobo's.check that your ram is at the right speed , asus mobo's default to 1333.
you should easly get 4ghz out of it.try 20 x 200.

cool. thanks!

my CPU v is 1.30 but goes back to 0.86v it doesnt go stable @ 1.30
is that normal?
im using CPUID by the way.

yes its normal,but it should have stopped if everything is disabled that dose it,have you manualled your multiplier?
